ACTION at a DISTANCE is a bold theatrical experiment written and directed by Fay|Glassman Performance, staged in collaboration with Theater Grottesco.
ACTION at a DISTANCE is performed by Theater Grottesco ensemble members John Flax, Apollo Garcia, Elizabeth Glass and Danielle Louise Reddick.
SIX ORIGINAL PLAYS HAPPEN SIMULTANEOUSLY performed by four dynamic actors who seamlessly switch between narratives using techniques developed by the Fay|Glassman Performance duo, creating an ever-shifting structural mosaic of stories, with juxtapositions, moments of synchronicity, irony, and satire, all brought to life within a 10ft x 10ft stage.
“a systematic derangement of the senses”... audience
A multilayered challenge to storytelling, with a constantly shifting mosaic of interactions and emotions, AaaD follows the structural truths of how people distraught and disconnected from one another live in imperceptible yet finely-tuned synchronicity, as do the actors on this stage.
Six plays. One stage. All happening at once. But what does that actually mean? We’re preserving the actors’ continuities, as they cut gestures and voices between characters and stories in a dazzling composed structure of scenic action.
